RELATIVE TO COMMENDING JOHN PAPADAKIS AND THE PAPADAKIS TAVERNA

 

          WHEREAS, John Papadakis and Papadakis Taverna have provided to the people of San Pedro and to the
people of California, a fine display of palatable delights, as well as unique entertainment, and therefore,
is deserving of special recognition and commendations; and

          WHEREAS, After graduating with honors from the University of Southern California, John Papadakis
married and honeymooned in Greece, and while there, he experienced a surge of pride in his heritage; and

          WHEREAS, The warmth and joyousness of the Greek tavernas touched him deeply, and his wish for
similar places in California turned into a reality when he opened Papadakis Taverna; and

          WHEREAS, The air at the Taverna is perfumed with the fragrance of rosemary, garlic and roasting
lamb, and every so often the blue-vested waiters step into a tiled area, line up arms to shoulders, and
break into the exuberant, muscular steps of a Greek folk dance; and

          WHEREAS, With exquisitely prepared food from authentic recipes, an interior created in the image of
a Greek taverna, and the hard work and talent of John Papadakis, the Papadakis Taverna has grown from a
small family-oriented business - - when John cooked the entrees and his wife prepared the hors d'oeuvres
and desserts - - to a prestigious, highly renowned restaurant, with a Greek chef and a large staff; and

          WHEREAS, Family-oriented, John Papadakis has kept his taverna a suitably gathering place for
families, and children are welcome; now therefore, be it

          RESOLVED BY ASSEMBLYMEN LOUIS J. PAPAN, AND ART AGNOS, AND SENATORS ROBERT G.
BEVERLY, AND NICHOLAS C. PETRIS, That John Papadakis and the Papadakis Taverna of San Pedro be
commended for the standards of excellence which it has proclaimed and achieved, and for the virtues of
the cuisine and the uniqueness of the entertainment, and be extended sincere best wishes for every success
in the future; and be it further

          RESOLVED, That a suitably prepared copy of this resolution be transmitted to John Papadakis and the
Papadakis Taverna.
